PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material forming a crystalline thin film and having a high interaction between a substrate in relation to that a semiconductor material using an organic compound (organic semiconductor) is attention-getting and research and development of a device and material for semiconductor is progressing. SOLUTION: The invention relates to a side-chain-containing organosilane compound represented by formula (I): R-SiX<SP>1</SP>X<SP>2</SP>X<SP>3</SP>(wherein R is aπelectron conjugated organic residue comprising a unit which is a group derived from a monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbon, a unit which is a group derived from a monocyclic heterocyclic compound and, and 3 to 10 units of these kinds bonded to each other, the organic residues each having at least one side chain; and X<SP>1</SP>, X<SP>2</SP>and X<SP>3</SP>are the same or different and each is a group which gives a hydroxyl group by hydrolysis).
