PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drum type washing machine where a burden on a user in the case of putting laundry articles in and out and physical pressure to the user is reduced. SOLUTION: An outer box 1 has an outer box opening part 11 opened and closed by a door 2. A water tub 3 is arranged inside of the outer box 1, and a drum 4 for housing the laundry articles is arranged rotatably in the water tub 3. The laundry articles in the drum 4 are dried by a drying system 6. A water tub opening part 18 is provided at the water tub 3. The height of the upper edge of the opening part 18 from an installing surface obtained by projecting the upper edge to a vertical surface is in the range of 85 to 95% of the overall height.
