<p>1292668 Moulding pneumatic tyres B F GOODRICH CO 22 Dec 1969 [23 Dec 1968] 62322/69 Heading B5A [Also in Division B7] A pneumatic tyre having a normal toroidal shape when inflated comprises side-walls which fold axially inwards upon deflation to form opposing bight portions 17, Fig. 1, which lie adjacent each other, and each fold having a continuous curvilinear portion in cross-section the tyre carcass being made of elastomeric-coated fabric. The tyre is formed by the apparatus of Figs. 2 and 3. The beads of a " green " tyre band are clamped against tyre wall shaping rings 31, 32, by radially expansible annular assemblies 38, 37, and the tyre band is inflated to contact an intermediate tread-moulding section 23 which is slidably mounted on rods 35 on the upper mould section 21. The upper and lower mould sections 21, 22 are moved towards each other to engage the intermediate section 23, Fig. 3. Curing medium under pressure is then circulated within the mould and an annular bore 40 in the intermediate section. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,156,182.</p> |
