1,256,445. Acrylonitrile polymer filaments. JAPAN EXLAN CO. Ltd. 26 Jan., 1970 [27 Jan., 1969], No. 3752/70. Heading C3P. Filaments comprising (1) a polymer of at least 70 weight per cent of acrylonitrile and (2) 1 to 15 weight per cent of monoglyceride or derivative thereof of formula where R is C 10-22 alkyl or alkenyl and m + n is 0 to 10, may be prepared by spinning solutions of the polymer containing 0.2 to 20 weight per cent of said monoglyceride, based on the weight of the polymer. The polymer may also contain units of acrylic and methacrylic acids, esters and amides, alkenyl ketones, vinyl carboxylates, vinyl ethers, styrenes, unsaturated heterocyclic compounds, vinyl and vinylidene halides, unsaturated sulphonic acids and lactones. The solvent may be organic, or an aqueous solution of a metal halide or thiocyanate. The glyceride may be derived from lauric, myristic, palmitic, stearic, arachidic, behenic, myristoleic, palmitoleic, petroselenic, vaccenic, oleic, linoleic, linolenic, elaidic, eleostearic, parinaric gadoleic and arachidonic acids. In examples fibres are spun from aqueous ammonium thiocyanate solutions of acrylonitrile/methyl acrylate/sodium methallyl sulphonate copolymers containing (1) glyceryl monostearate, ethylene oxide adducts thereof, glyceryl monooleate or glyceryl monolaurate, and (2) glyceryl monostearate.
|
