The aim of the invention is to improve the distribution of software and configuration data in data networks comprising a lot of users regarding bandwidth utilization and expenses. Said aim is achieved by sending the software or the data that is to be distributed to a few users. Said users (A, E) form ad hoc networks or P2P connections along with other users (B, C, D, and F to J). Said connections allow the data to be randomly transmitted upon request, thus allowing a majority of the data to be distributed via ad hoc networks without loading the data network.
