<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium secondary battery with a deformation preventing means for preventing the deformation of an electrode assembly of the lithium secondary battery, and to provide its manufacturing method. <P>SOLUTION: The lithium secondary battery 100 comprises the electrode assembly 200 consisting of a first electrode plate 210 mounted with a first electrode tap 215, a second electrode plate 220 mounted with a second electrode tap 225, and a separator laid between the first electrode plate 210 and the second electrode plate 220, all of which are wound several times as laminated, an electrode assembly deformation preventing body 300 mounted on at least part of the electrode assembly 200 perpendicularly to the winding direction, a case 110 having an opening portion storing the electrode assembly 200 on which the electrode assembly deformation preventing body 300 is mounted, and a cap assembly 400 having a terminal portion jointed to the case 100 to close the opening portion and electrically connected to the electrode assembly 200.
