<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic device capable of avoiding consuming electric power wastefully by keeping a power supply off until a connecting cable is pulled out of a device body so that it is connected to another external device. <P>SOLUTION: The connecting cable 5 for communicating data to and from other external devices is retractably provided in the device body 2. The device body 2 includes a cable in/out detection means 15 for detecting that the connecting cable 5 is moved into and out of the device body 2, and an automatic power line on/off means 21 for keeping a power line on only if the cable in/out detection means 15 detects that the connecting cable 5 is pulled out of the device body 2, and for keeping the power line off while the connecting cable is stored in the device body 2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
