<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To limit an input current by operating an overcurrent detecting circuit and keeping a switching transistor off even in the off period of the switching transistor when an output current is in an overcurrent state. <P>SOLUTION: An overcurrent detecting resistor and an overcurrent detecting circuit in a switching regulator protecting circuit are arranged between an output capacitor and an output load.
