<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a printed result meeting user's intention by allowing a DSC side to verify a print layout, and to instruct a change in the print layout in divided printing in a direct print system. <P>SOLUTION: The side of a PD printer 1 and that of a DSC 2 are allowed to have a decoder and an encoder in a PTP-format command and a PictBridge-format command including VEOC that is a command peculiar to each vendor; thus creating a command (VEOC_A) for notifying the DSC 2 of print layout information created at the side of the PD printer 1, and a command (VEOC_B) for notifying the PD printer 1 of instruction details from a user regarding print layout information by codes included in the VEOC; and hence allowing a user to verify print layout at the side of the DSC 2 in the divided printing of 4 UP layout in a PictBridge standard and to instruct a change in print layout from the side of the DSC 2 (S4 and S5). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
