PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating composition and to provide a method for coating a substrate. SOLUTION: An aqueous composition is provided, which comprises (a) at least one kind of anionically stabilized latex polymer, (b) at least one kind of polyfunctional amine and (c) at least one kind of volatile base wherein the polymer (a) has a Tg of 21°C or higher. A method for coating a leather and a method for coating an elastomer are provided, which comprise the step of applying at least one layer of an aqueous coating composition comprising (a) at least one kind of anionically stabilized latex polymer, (b) at least one kind of polyfunctional amine and (c) at least one kind of volatile base to the leather or the elastomer.
