PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer control apparatus capable of making correction by considering the response performance of a print head, enhancing the printing quality and attaining high-speed printing. SOLUTION: The printer control apparatus comprises a reference position pulse generating circuit 41, a print timing correcting circuit 43 and a head driving circuit 37. The reference position pulse generating circuit 41 generates a reference position pulse each time it is measured that the relative position between the print head 33 and the printing sheet 32 has reached a position of a predetermined equal positional interval. The print timing correcting circuit 43 corrects the timing of the pre-correction print timing pulse generated based on the reference position pulse. The head driving circuit 37 drives the head triggered by the corrected print timing pulse. The print timing correcting circuit is provided with three registers and a counter. The registers are set to the shortest one of the periods in which the resonance phenomenon of the head is suppressed, capable of taking a continuous value and that a printable period close to the upper limit of the drive frequency of the head. The counter measures the elapsed time from the previous generation of the timing pulse so that a corrected print timing pulse is outputted. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
