For the operation of a turbo compressor, with an upstream (1a) and a downstream (1b) zone, the pressure is determined at least at two different positions (12,13). If the difference between the two measured pressures lies over a threshold value, the volume flow at the affected compressor zone is raised e.g. by reducing the power of a cooler (5) downstream of the compressor zone and the flow resistance is reduced at the downstream turbine (7).
