<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device capable of emitting light in a slanting direction with respect to the mounting surface thereof to a substrate etc. and a manufacturing method thereof. <P>SOLUTION: The surface of a package 11 on which an LED chip 12 is mounted is inclined so that the optical axis of the LED chip 12 is made oblique, and light emitted from the LED chip 12 can be emitted in the slanting direction with respect to the substrate mounting surface 11c. Further, leads 13A, 13B for providing power supply to the LED chip 12 are arranged along the side wall surface of the package 11 at the intermediate portion thereof, and tips thereof are subjected to bending work so that they reach the substrate mounting surface 11c and are exposed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
