<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display whose CR view angle and gradation inversion angle are both improved. <P>SOLUTION: The display comprises a pair of substrates 10 and 14, disposed facing each other, at least one of which has an electrode, a liquid crystal layer 12 comprising liquid-crystal molecules aligned along with alignment axes 11 and 13 that facing surfaces of the couple of substrates have respectively, pairs of polarizers 1 to 6 and 18 to 23 disposed across the liquid-crystal layer 12, and at least one optically anisotropic layer 7 or 15 disposed between the liquid crystal layer and at least either of the polarizers, axes 8 and 16 of extinction of the optically anisotropic layers 7 and 15 crossing alignment axes 11 and 13 of the substrates 10 and 13 which are closer respectively and also crossing absorption axes 4 and 21 of polarizers which are closer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
