PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an alkaline battery suitable for a heavy load excellent in heavy-load discharge performance, practically free of the problem of gas generation by restraining generation of the gas caused by quick battery reaction. SOLUTION: On the alkaline battery provided with a gelatinous zinc anode, composed of non-mercury zinc alloy powder, a gelatinizing agent, and alkaline electrolyte liquid, the non-mercury zinc alloy powder contains particles of 75μm or smaller by 7 mass% or smaller, and to contain particles of 106μm or smaller in a range of 22 to 40 mass%, and further, particles of 425μm or larger are removed. Accordingly, the capacity of the battery is heightened, heavy load pulse characteristics are improved, and generation of gas is restrained. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
