PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive scanning optical apparatus that is adaptable to high-speed revolution of a rotary polygon mirror by improving heat radiation in the bearing of the driving motor of the apparatus and thereby enhancing durability of the bearing. SOLUTION: The scanning optical apparatus is equipped with a rotary polygon mirror that deflects a light beam emitted from a light source, a driving motor that rotates the rotary polygon mirror, and an optical box that holds the driving motor.
