PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shield machine capable of being downsized. SOLUTION: This shield machine for excavating a tunnel comprises: a shield body 1; a bulkhead 2 which is provided at the front side end of the shield body 1 and which separates a cutting-face side and the inside of the shield body 1 from each other; a cutter head 3 which is rotatably provided ahead of the bulkhead 2 and which excavates a cutting face; an eccentric shaft 20 which is provided eccentrically to the axis L of the rotating shaft 4 of the cutter head 3; a connection member 22 which is rotatably provided in the eccentric shaft 20; and a plurality of telescopic jacks 25 and 26, the one side of which is rotatably connected to the connection member 22, and the other side of which is connected to the bulkhead 2 in such a manner as to be rotatable in a face direction almost parallel to the bulkhead 2.
