PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple disk tray that exhibits an excellent illumination effect in minimal cost, and a disk drive unit having the disk tray. SOLUTION: In a disk tray unit, a disk tray 6 is provided so as to be movable in a discharge/insertion direction of a housing 1, and when the disk tray 6 is inserted into the housing 1, one end of the tray is exposed from a front portion of the housing 1 as a light emission portion 63. In the disk tray 6, a disk setting portion 62 is formed in a tray body 61 having a light transmission property. The tray body 61 has a light-source attaching portion 65 for arranging a light source 7 that produces light to be propagated through the inside of the body, and a reflective surface 66 that reflects light propagated through the inside of the tray body 61 from the light source 7 and irradiates an optical disk in the disk setting portion 62 with the light. The light irradiating the optical disk from the reflective surface 66 is reflected by the optical disk and made incident again into the inside of the tray body 61, and then externally radiated from one end face 63 of the tray body exposed from the front portion of the housing 1.
