VARIABLE VALVE MECHANISM FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress excessive increase in a maximum lift amount of an intake valve when driving a variable valve mechanism so as to increase the maximum lift amount and the working angle while decreasing a working angle of an intake cam securing an intake air amount required when the intake air amount is small. SOLUTION: A lift amount variable mechanism 14 is equipped with an input arm 17 rocked by being pushed by an intake cam 11a and a rocking arm 18 for lifting an intake valve 9 by being rocked on the basis of rocking of the input arm 17. A non-lift section in which the intake valve 9 cannot be lifted is formed in a part near to a supporting pipe 15 in a cam surface 25 of the rocking arm 18. A lift section in which the intake valve 9 can be lifted is formed on a side away from the supporting pipe 15 farther than the non-lift section in the cam surface 25. A R section bent in a direction away from the pipe 15 is formed near to the supporting pipe 15 in the lift section. An inverted R section bent in a direction reverse to the R section is formed on a tip side of the rocking arm 18. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
