PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding door device having a lock mechanism which is not exposed out of a sliding door body or the like, and does not disturb passing or spoil the designing property. SOLUTION: The sliding door device comprises an upper rail 2 and a sliding door body 1 having a guide roller 3 on the upper end which travels in the upper rail 2. The sliding door body 1 includes a turning mechanism 4 therein for turning the guide roller 3 in a direction perpendicular to the travelling direction. The upper rail 2 includes a holding and stopping projection 5 in the upper rail 2 for holding and stopping the guide roller 3 which is in a state of being turned by the turning mechanism 4 of the sliding door body 1. When the sliding door body 1 is closed, the guide roller 3 is turned inside the upper rail 2 by the turning mechanism 4 in the direction perpendicular to the travelling direction, and is held and stopped by the holding and stopping projection 5.
