PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a riding type rice transplanter which can more easily supply seedlings to a seedling tray than conventional rice transplanters. SOLUTION: This riding type rice transplanter is characterized by disposing expanded steps 22 on the right and left sides of a main step 21 so that both the right and left sides of the expanded steps 22 are placed in the fronts of the outermost seedling-loading surfaces 42-1, 42-8 of the seedling tray 42, disposing a rear step portion 21c behind a driver's seat 20 to cover the upper sides of rear wheels 7 at a higher position than the main step 21, disposing the front portions of the right and left expanded steps 22 in an approximately same height as the step surfaces of the right and left step portions 21a of the main step 21 on both the sides of the driver's seat 20 and on both the sides of a handle 18, disposing the rear portions of the right and left expanded steps 22 above right and left auxiliary wheels 7' at positions which are higher than their front portions and are approximately the same as the step surface of the rear step portion 21c, and disposing the shorter lateral length of a laterally long hopper portion 5a for receiving the fertilizer of a fertilizer application device 5 than the lateral length of the seedling tray 42.
