PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a column spacer in which occurrence of color irregularities caused by the failure of flowing down of liquid crystal by gravity is effectively suppressed, and a liquid crystal display element formed by using the column spacer. SOLUTION: The column spacer is used for the liquid crystal display element, and has an elastic coefficient of 0.13 to 0.65 GPa when compressed with the volume reduction by 15% at 60°C.
