PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform paper re-feed by lifting a paper feed tray by a predetermined turning angle when no paper feed is detected. SOLUTION: A sheet conveyor comprises a mounting shaft 40 to turnably support one end side of a paper feed tray 8, a stepping motor 38 to lift the other end side opposite to the one end side of the paper feed tray 8 around the mounting shaft 40 from the initial set position, and a CPU 50. The CPU 50 determines that an original D on the paper feed tray 8 is not fed by a forward-feeding roller 21 if a separation part switch 32 does not detect the original D even when the predetermined time elapses from the start of the paper feed operation of the paper feed tray 8, and drives the forward-feeding roller 21 again after the other end side of the paper feed tray 8 is lifted by the stepping motor 38 by the predetermined turning angleθ.
