PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately adjust the pressure of a hammer of an eyelet holing sewing machine on a scalpel to securely form an eyelet and to prevent the damage to the scalpel regardless of whether a worked fabric is thin or thick. SOLUTION: The eyelet holing sewing machine comprises a hammer 8 for punching out the eyelet in the worked fabric W, an air cylinder 9 for driving the hammer, a scalpel base 15, a feed base 16 to move by mounting the worked fabric W, and a moving mechanism for moving the feed base. In the eyelet holing sewing machine, the force to drive the hammer when an eyelet is formed by operating the hammer 8 by the air cylinder 9 for driving the hammer is set according to the thickness of the fabric based on a potentiometer for fabric thickness detection to detect the thickness of the worked fabric W and a fabric thickness detection signal received from the potentiometer for fabric thickness detection; and the air cylinder 9 for driving the hammer is controlled so that the force to drive the hammer is the above set driving force.
