The control method for espresso and coffee pad machines comprises:detecting if control buttons (18a, 18b) have been pressed; setting up the coffee preparation parameters indicated by pressing the buttons; and beginning brewing. The buttons are monitored for additional pressing within a fixed time and the parameters modified to comply if this occurs. An independent claim is included for espresso and coffee pad machines in which the control method can be used.
