PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication apparatus for displaying the propriety of tracing reproduction in a plurality of video recording modes by transferring a file to an optional recording apparatus on a network and measuring the transfer speed. SOLUTION: The communication apparatus includes: a measurement section 73 that transfers a file stored in a storage area to a recording apparatus registered by a registration section via a network and records the file, measures the recording time from the recording start to its end, transfers the recorded file from the recording apparatus to the communication apparatus via a communication section, and measures the transfer time from the transfer start to its end; and a control section that obtains a recording speed by dividing the capacity of the file by a recording time measured by the measurement section, obtains a reproduction speed by dividing the capacity of the file by the transfer time measured by the measurement section, and generates a display signal for displaying the propriety of the tracing reproduction for carrying out reproduction by each of a plurality of video recording modes by the recording apparatus, while carrying out recording on the basis of the recording speed and the reproduction speed.
