PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing system and an image processing method for correcting a scan image in order to faithfully express an already known scan object. SOLUTION: This image processing system is provided with an image acquisition means for acquiring a scan image, a first scan region specifying means for specifying a first scan region corresponding to an object based on the scan image, a recognition means for recognizing the first scan area object as the already known object and a second scan region specifying means for specifying the second scan region excluding at least a portion of a shadow area presumed to correspond to the shadow of the already known object from the first scan region.
