PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas detector capable of certainly detecting the leakage of a gas to be detected, at an early stages. SOLUTION: The gas detector is equipped with a hood 1 for collecting the gas to be detected a fan 3 for sucking the gas to be detected collected in the hood 1 via a suction port 2 and a sensor 4 for detecting the gas to be detected and also equipped with a guide plate 6, which is positioned between the suction port 2 and the generation source of the gas to be detected, cuts off at least the central part in the inside part, surrounded by the hood to form an opening part 5 around it and forms a flow channel for guiding the gas to be detected to the suction port 2 between the inside surface of the hood and the guide plate 6.
