PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a sensor having high sensitivity and excellent in impact-resistant characteristics and long-term reliability by keeping TCR in the platinum alloy wire used in a heater coil of a contact combustion type gas sensor to provide a material enhanced in tensile strength. SOLUTION: The platinum alloy wire of a contact combustion type gas sensor is constituted of two layers, that is, an outside platinum alloy layer wherein the metal dissolved in platinum is present so as to be present so as to have an oblique concentration toward the center part of the platinum wire from its surface and a platinum center layer only comprising platinum. As the metal dissolved in platinum, rhodium, irridium, and palladium are preferable and, after plating is preliminarily performed, the metal is thermally diffused and wire drawing processing is further performed to manufacture the platinum alloy wire.
