摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing an optical device which uses a method for accurately evaluating a forming mold before applying for a forming process to define whether it is good or not and simply evaluating and judging the life of a carbon thin film exhausted by continuous press forming and the forming mold suitable for the forming process. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the optical device is carried out by preparing the forming mold for forming the optical device which has the carbon thin film formed on the forming surface, measuring the contact angle of the forming surface to a liquid for measuring the contact angle, selecting the forming mold showing that the measured value of the contact angle is equivalent to≤55 mJ/m<SP>2</SP>surface free energy and press-forming a glass base material softened by heating using the selected forming mold. The forming mold has the carbon thin film formed on the forming surface and the carbon thin film has≤55 mJ/m<SP>2</SP>surface free energy determined by the contact angle method.
