<p>A method of performing silver staining of a gel, such as an agarose gel or polyacrylamide gel, after electrophoretic separation of a bio-related substance, such as a nucleic acid or protein, comprising at least the steps of (a) immersing an untreated gel after electrophoresis in an aqueous solution of sodium thiosulfate; (b) immersing the gel obtained by the above step (a) in a mixture of ethanol and an aqueous solution of sodium acetate; and (c) immersing the gel obtained by the above step (b) in a mixture of ethanol and an aqueous solution of silver nitrate.</p> |
