<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely execute installation of a device driver using an exclusive installer even in a case that connection of peripheral equipment and the incorporating work of the exclusive installer are performed out of sequence. <P>SOLUTION: When a multifunctional device is connected to a PC, equipment information (descriptor) selectively describing information for storage function of a plurality of functions owned by the multifunctional device is inputted from the multifunctional device to the PC to make the PC detect the connection as a connection of equipment having only the storage function. When the exclusive installer is incorporated to the PC, instruction data are written from the PC to a built-in storage device of the multifunctional device. When the instruction data are written, the multifunctional device releases and restores the connection with the PC to wait for transmission of a request signal of equipment information from the PC, and inputs, upon receiving the request signal, equipment information describing information for the plurality of functions to the PC to make the PC detect the connection of the multifunctional device as a connection of equipment having the plurality of functions. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
