PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device and an imaging method capable of designing a lens without considering the object distance or defocus range and attaining image restoration with a highly accurate calculation. SOLUTION: The imaging device includes: an imaging lens device 200 for imaging an object dispersion image which has passed through an optical system and a phase plate as a light wavefront modulation element; an image processing device 300 for generating an image signal having no dispersion from the dispersion image signal supplied from the imaging element 200; and an object brief distance information detection device 400 for generating information equivalent to the distance to the object. The image processing device 300 generates an image signal having no dispersion according to the information generated from the object outline distance information detection device 400.
