PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device capable of simply creating a desired composite image at the time of photographing without needing a troublesome work. SOLUTION: This image pickup device comprises a CCD 23 for photographing an object, a displaying part 19 for displaying image data obtained by the CCD 23 as a through image on a screen, and a control part 32 for obtaining the whole image or a portion of the image on the screen as a still picture by predetermined operation to the screen on which the through images are displayed, and obtains a composite image with the still picture arranged at an optional position as a photographed image by performing photographing with the depression of a shutter key while the obtained still picture is arranged at the optional position on the screen.
