<p>The devise including a first jaw portion (2), provided with an elongate pin (7) adapted, in use, to engage within a cavity of a male portion (50), a second jaw portion (3) adapted, in use, to engage and carry a female portion (51). Farther including first handle portion (4) and second handle portion (5), first handle portion (4) being connected to second jaw portion (5) with the handles and jaws (2, 3) acting about a common pivot to move first and second jaw portions such that movement of first handle portion (4) with respect to second handle portion (5) drives the first and second jaw portions towards each other, in use, to drive male portion (50) of ear tag through an animal's ear and engage it with the female portion (51). Biasing means (16) to bias jaw portions (2, 3) to an open position, a latch mean being disengaged only after full engagement of the male (50) and female (51) portions of the ear tag to cause first jaw portion (2) to move under the action of the biasing means to an open position independently of handle portions (4, 5). A longitudinal axis being provided at a forward at an angle 90° when jaw portion (2) is in open position as a tip of male portion (50) of the tag contacts the animal's ear, and axis of the pin (7) being provided at forward onto position 90° before the male portion (50) has fully engaged with female portion (51).</p> |
