<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium ion secondary battery improved in the shapes of a cap plate, an insulating plate, and a terminal plate. <P>SOLUTION: The lithium ion secondary battery includes an electrode assembly 212 mounted with a positive electrode plate 213, a negative electrode plate 215 and a separator 214, a case 210 holding the electrode assembly 212 and an electrolyte, and a cap assembly 220 having the cap plate 240, the insulating plate 250, the terminal plate 260 and an electrode terminal 230, connected to an upper end opening part of the case 210 and sealing the case 210.
