PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a brake pad, which enables easy molding of a brake pad provided with heat resistance and abrasion resistance that are equivalent to those of a brake pad produced using a polyimide resin as a binder. SOLUTION: The method for producing a brake pad that contains a fibrous base material, a friction regulating agent, and a binder as major ingredients, which comprises selecting a polyimide precursor monomer as the binder, mixing the monomer, the fibrous base material, and the friction regulating agent, molding them by pressurization and heating, polymerizing the monomer to obtain polyimide, and thus obtaining a molded brake pad.
