PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nozzle cleaning method for effectively suppressing the occurrence of clogging of a nozzle in a line type inkjet printer. SOLUTION: This nozzle cleaning method for the printer, which has a fixed line-type print head, comprises: a nonjet number computing step of computing the number of nonjets of ink from the nozzle of each print head, from printed image data; a flushing term computing step of computing a flushing period on the basis of the number of the nonjets of the ink; and a printing control signal generating step of generating a printing control signal including the flushing period.
