PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a railway rolling stock system wherein electric power regenerative brakes are reinforced in a high-speed range, and surplus regenerative electric power is stored in a small power storage device to suppress an increase in trolley voltage. SOLUTION: The railway rolling stock system includes motors 10 that are driven by an alternating-current voltage; an inverter 11 that converts a direct-current voltage supplied during powering into alternating-current voltage, supplies it to the motors 10, and further supplies a direct-current voltage based by an alternating-current electromotive force generated in the motors 10 during regeneration; and a power storage device 12 that is installed in series between the inverter 11 and an overhead wire 1, stores regenerative electric power supplied from the inverter 11 during regeneration, and supplies the stored regenerative electric power to the inverter 11 during powering. The power storage device 12 includes a voltage securing portion 20 that secures a predetermined voltage between the inverter 11 and the overhead wire 1 during regeneration; and power storages 30 and 40 that are provided in parallel with the voltage ensuring portion 20 and store regenerative electric power.
