The damping device includes dampers (4, 5) with variable damping volume between the vehicle frame (2) and the seat (1). The dampers are at the corners of the seat, and have sensors (9) to monitor the position of the seat relative to the frame. The dampers are connected by tube lines and valve devices, and are controlled by an electronic regulating unit to compensate for vibrations by means of the dampers, which are in the form of rubber bellows in recesses in the floor group of the vehicle frame.
