PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively and surely protect the tip surface of an optical fiber. SOLUTION: Ferrules 51, 91 attached to the outer peripheries of tip parts of respective optical fibers 41, 45 are respectively provided with cylindrical base parts 67 and projected pieces 71 extended to the tip sides of the base parts 67. The projected pieces 71 are extended from parts of the tip parts of the base parts 67 like comb teeth so as to cross the tip surfaces 41a, 45a of respective optical fibers 41, 45 in the tip directions. Except an extremely sharp obstacle, an obstacle is not reached to the tip surfaces 41a, 45a of respective optical fibers 41, 45 across a gap between respective projected pieces 71 of respective ferrules 51, 91, so that the tip surfaces 41a, 45a of respective optical fibers 41, 45 can be protected by simple and inexpensive structure at extremely high probability.
