PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shape-measuring method and a shape-measuring apparatus, which can measure the outer shape of an elastic object to be measured in a short time. SOLUTION: The shape-measuring apparatus is made up such that a position coordinate of a CCD camera can be detected. When measuring the shape of a backing 16, the backing 16 is photographed by the CCD camera, and the position of the CCD camera is adjusted, thereby bringing an intersecting point K which is displayed on an image monitor 23, to coincide with a measurement point (i.e., start point S in figures (a), (b)) in the backing 16. Then, when the intersection point K is made to coincide with the measurement point, the detected position coordinates of the CCD camera is read as the coordinates of the measurement point (starting point S) in the backing 16.
