PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a driver to change the acceleration/deceleration according to his preference when his vehicle is running in following the foregoing vehicle. SOLUTION: A running control device sets the vehicle so as to make following running after the foregoing vehicle by controlling the braking/driving force of the vehicle so that the inter-vehicle distance becomes the preset value when any vehicle is sensed ahead, and when no foregoing vehicle exists, generates a constant speed running by controlling the braking/driving force of the vehicle concerned so that its speed becomes the preset value (set vehicle speed). When a specific manipulation is applied to an operating member for increasing or decreasing the set speed, changing-over is made from the set speed changing mode to the acceleration/deceleration changing mode, and the acceleration/deceleration is changed according to the manipulation on the operating member when changing-over into the acceleration/deceleration changing mode has been done.
