PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tidal wave breakwater reduced in cost and time, providing no effect on the cruising of ships and natural environment, and also not impairing landscape. SOLUTION: In this tidal wave breakwater, a can 1 having a height required for disaster prevention and floatable on a water is molded as a bank body 2, a rotating pivot 5 allowing the bank body to be rotated along a sea level 4 vertically to the axis of the bank body and movable in the axial or roughly axial direction is formed at one 3 of the end parts of the bank body, and a rotating pivot 6 allowing the bank body to be rotated along the sea level vertically to the axis thereof by combining the band body therewith and movable in the axial or roughly axial direction is formed at a land part. A propelling device 8 rotatable along the sea level in a direction vertically to the axis of the bank is installed under the position of the bank near the other end part and a prime mover 9 supplying a power to the propelling device is installed inside or outside the bank body. A water tank 11 shared with an air tank and having an opening 10 under the water level is installed in the band and an exhaust valve 12 leading to the air tank is installed at an easily operable any position.
