The arrangement for the checking of running wheels (1) and/or wheelset bearings (3) of passing rail vehicles consists of a measurement length constructed on both sides of the rails (5) and having a measuring and receiving unit (7). The measurement length is bounded at the start and finish by at least one switch activating and deactivating the measuring unit. The switches (8,9) each consist of a plate-like component of plastic placed between the foot of a sleeper (6a-6d) and the rails and with optical fibers incorporate therein.
