A compound represented by the formula (I) [wherein R<SUP>1</SUP> represents optionally substituted amino; R<SUP>2</SUP> represents optionally substituted carbamoyl; one of X and Y represents carbon and the other represents carbon or nitrogen; ---- indicates a single bond or double bond; ring A represents an optionally substituted monocycle; and ring B represents an optionally substituted aromatic ring], a salt thereof, or a prodrug of either; and a medicine containing the compound, salt, or prodrug. The compound is a novel fused furan derivative which differs from any known compound in chemical structure and has I?B kinase inhibitory activity, NF-?B inhibitory activity, TNF-a-production inhibitory activity, etc.
