A compound having SGLT1 and/or SGLT2 inhibitory activity which is usable as a preventive or therapeutic agent for diabetes, postprandial hyperglycemia, impaired glucose tolerance, complications of diabetes, obesity, etc. It is a 1-(ß-D-glycopyranosyl)-3-substituted nitrogenous heterocyclic compound represented by the general formula (I), a prodrug or pharmacologically acceptable salt thereof, or a hydrate or solvate of either. Also provided is an SGLT inhibitor containing any of these.
