<p num="1"><br/><br/><br/>A diagnostic agent for tumors which enables early discovery, monitoring of <br/>therapeutic effects, and prognostic diagnosis with respect to all tumors. The <br/>diagnostic agent for tumors contains a .delta.-aminolevulinic acid represented <br/>by the general formula (I): R2R1NCH2COCH2CH2COR3 (I) [wherein R1 and R2 each <br/>independently represents hydrogen, alkyl, acyl, alkoxycarbonyl, aryl, or <br/>aralkyl; and R3 represents hydroxy, alkoxy, acyloxy, alkoxycarbonyloxy, <br/>aryloxy, aralkyloxy, or amino], a derivative of the acid, or a salt of either. <br/>After the diagnostic agent for tumors is administered, a sample taken from <br/>inside or outside the human body is examined for porphyrins to make a <br/>diagnosis.<br/></p> |
