摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To satisfactorily perform infrared communication with an opposite party device while reducing power consumption. <P>SOLUTION: This device of a portable type used for an infrared conference system performs bidirectional infrared communication with a light-transmitting/receiving device attached on the ceiling. For this purpose, the device is provided with an almost cylindrical light-transmitting/receiving unit 30 having a photodiodes 50 as a light-receiving means and a light-emitting diode 60 as a light-transmitting means. Also, this light-transmitting/receiving unit 30 can manually be rotated around its own center line 34 as an axis. Accordingly, the light-transmitting/receiving unit 30 is rotated in accordance with the position of the light-transmitting/receiving device as an opposite party device, and thus the infrared communication with the light-transmitting/receiving device can be satisfactorily performed.
