<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink composition which can form high-quality images without blotting and beading and excels in image preservability, particularly gas resistance (ozone resistance), particularly preferably an inkjet recording cyan ink, and an inkjet recording method. <P>SOLUTION: The ink composition comprises a dye represented by formula (1), water, and a compound selected from the group consisting of a thiol compound, an amidine compound, a carbazide compound, and a hydrazide compound.
